OBS Casimir 'Work in progress'

Transformation
OBS Casimir

The Casimirschool is allowed to expand with two classrooms. This gives scope for an internal reorganisation of functions and for more variation and flexibility in the classrooms. The building must also be made more sustainable. After the design research by Mevrouw Meijer in 2023-2024, Kumiki was given the follow-up assignment. The design is currently being further developed. The other location, on the Groenweg, will be discussed later.

Kumiki proposes to move the classrooms a few metres outwards. This is possible because the outer facade of the classrooms, largely made of glass, has to be replaced by a better insulated facade anyway; moving the facade then requires relatively little effort and additional costs. This creates extra space within the building, which is used as a learning space, and for special functions such as team, management and meeting rooms.

The new facade is largely made of bamboo. The eight classrooms each have their own entrance from the schoolyard. Two outside staircases have been designed for the upper classrooms for this purpose.
